The convergence of IT and OT systems increases the need for robust security in industrial environments. A standardized security approach spanning IT and OT is crucial for efficient and secure production. PI addresses these requirements through specialized working groups and continuous technology development. PROFINET already integrates security enhancements and, in collaboration with TÜV Süd, aligns with the IEC 62443-4-2 standard. Security does not only concern Ethernet-based systems—IO-Link and PROFIBUS must also be considered for comprehensive protection.
